Weekend with the Fam

Two weeks ago, all of my family came to Provo. It was really nice having everyone that we don't see very often in town, specifically Heidi's family and Wendy's family. Unfortunately, my sister Jessica's job kept her in Boston that week, but we had fun overall. It was a wild time with all of the Grandkids as you can see in the picture above.

On Saturday of that weekend, we were able to enjoy Scera park in all of its majestic glory. Most of us were able to go to the pool and several had fun going down the water slides a couple of times. Later, we all enjoyed a barbeque at the park.

I am really going to miss all of the family when I leave Provo for law school in Washington. We will be closer to Seattle so we can visit my Sister Heidi's family more often (although they might get sick of us). On the other hand, it was great that we were able to spend time together now because there is a good chance that I will drop off the face of the planet once school starts, so I apologize in advance.

So-tah with Jarom & Heidi

This past weekend (our second to last in Utah), Krista and I went to St. George to visit a mission companion of mine, Jarom, and his wife Heidi. We decided to visit Zion National Park while we were down there, which was unbelievably fun. They were incredible hosts, and it was so fun to reminisce about old times in the mission. As always, I wish we had more time to spend with them, but livin' life happens.

We did not have the time, nor the energy to take on any of the really challenging hikes at Zion like Angel's Landing, but we were able to see a lot of really cool locations there. We first hiked to a place called "Weeping Rock" where you stand under a cliff face and see droplets of water falling from the rock as if the mountain were crying.

After "Weeping Rock" we took on a longer and slightly more arduous hike to the lower, middle, and upper "Emerald Pools." It was a very scenic hike, with beautiful destinations at the end.

We are getting ready to move to Spokane in the upcoming weeks. Shad is, of course, getting ready to attend Gonzaga University School of Law. We have mixed emotions about moving. Of course we are excited to start a new stage in our lives and live closer to Heidi and Steven Gaffney, Hannu and Paulita Ratinen and other good friends in Seattle, but we are also very sad to leave family and close friends here in Provo. We just had to say goodbye to Brad and Kjirstin Roberts who left last week for Medical School in Milwaukee, which was a real bummer. We definitely intend to stay in touch with everyone we can though.

Here are some photos of our first trip to Spokane and Gonzaga University. It was a very beautiful campus and a very nice Law building.

Disneyland 2008

These are photos of us and our best friends from Provo, B-rad and Kjirstin Roberts at Disneyland this summer. We had an absolute blast. Krista says repeatedly that she wants to go back. We went there for our big vacation for the summer because we will be pretty far away from Disneyland in Spokane, so we wanted to take advantage of our close proximity, and time to vacation. We were able to go on every ride we wanted to, many twice. Afterward, we camped at San Clemente beach and had a great time there as well. It is always sad to leave Disneyland.

Livin' Life

Hello everyone,

This is our very first post on our blog. We just want to welcome you here and let you know what we are up to. We also invite you to tell us what you are doing as well. We recently came home from a trip to Michigan where we were able to visit Krista's family and celebrate her grandpa's 80th birthday. It turned out to be an extremely happy, fun occasion. Her grandpa was very excited to see Krista (in fact, the family surprised him and did not tell him she was coming). We had an absolute blast with her family, and want to thank them for the time we spent with them.

This photo is at Lake Huron just outside of Bay City, Michigan. The state park there was very beautiful, the weather was perfect, and the shores of the lake were smelly.

The other photos are of Krista, her Grandpa, and her cousin Joaquin, and Paulita's parents and her siblings.
